A necessary thing these social skills for most of us. The very thing that is held against us aspies. Work, dating, partying, teamwork, school etc. A question to start thinking about is how to develop sufficent social skills to survive in an NT world with its heavy emphasis on social interactions. To start with, my small contribution is how to approach someone new in a group situation where no-one knows anyone and not shoot yourself in the foot. From my experience at uni where no-one knows anyone at the start of a unit. basically starting with a fresh slate every time. I deliberately sit right beside someone different every time and ask them their name, what they do (major). Then if they answer I expand on it. gee you could really do something with that. Do you understand what is being said (lecture). Do you know how to do such and such. By the end of the semester most people are firm friends, especially the females for some reason. Now what I don't talk about is sport and other "normal"areas the most think people are interested in, just mainly what we are doing. This approach has the benefit of not having to come up with lines, and all are invovled with their mutual interest.

I'm usually too busy making sure I have everything like papers, books etc. to notice other people very much.
