I swear to god I've written this before. the internet Gremlins must have eaten it. ANYWAY. For those who know what to do; irc.freenode.net #Islanders[/u] A short guide to Accessing an IRC Channel. Internet Relay Chat. Perhaps a slightly intimidating name, but it shouldn't be; IRC is a piece of cake. To access an IRC Channel, you need what is called a Client Now, there are many, many clients out there; Firefox has one called "Chatzilla", Pidgin has one built in. you also have dedicated Clients. For the purpose of this walkthrough, I'll be using Pidgin and KVIRC. alright then, Pidgin first. Pidgin is a program that allows you to communicate with many other messenger protocals; IRC, MSN, AIM, Pretty much all the big ones. You can get it here (Sourceforge).Once you have installed it, you will get this popup; Click the first button. Select IRC from the list; I boobooed here, and accidently deleted my screenshot; The Grey out bits will not be greyed out; Fill in the first one with your username, don't touch the others The Bottom one, set to whatever name you want displayed. this can be changed later. follow that... you'll get this; Type into the second box what you see there. and you are done!

Now, for KVIRC. KVIRC is a dedicated IRC Client, and thus, better than Pidgin. you can download it hereOnce it is installed, it's extremely easy to use; Important; Close the window that comes up at startup with a list of serverswhere the rather large 1 is, you'll see an address bar; in there, put the following, and hit enter; irc.freenode.net once that connects, in the bottom bar (2) put: "/join #islanders" You should now see this; Put in: /nick >NAME HERE< replacing >NAME HERE< with the display name you want. and you are done!

I will add that someone needs to, for now, sit in the channel at all times; I don't know much about Channel operations, so....
